Paul Taylor will be the man in charge at Roots Hall when Southend meets Leeds United on Friday.

The Hertfordshire official has so far this season refereed 5 games, showing 25 yellow cards and 1 red.

He was the man in charge recently at the West Ham v Millwall Carling Cup clash when ugly scenes between fans marred the game.

Last season he refereed 36 games, showing 127 yellow cards and 12 reds.

The last time he was in charge of a Southend game was last season when they was beaten 1-0 at home by Yeovil, on that occasion he showed 4 yellow cards and a red to Yeovil`s Aiden Downes.

The last time he took charge of a Leeds game was last season`s local derby defeat at Huddersfield Town.

He was also in charge the previous season when the two clubs met, on that occasion he took the spotlight sending off Huddersfield`s Jon Worthington and Leeds Jonathan Douglas in the first half.
