Leeds United will be without strike duo Davide Somma and Luciano Becchio for the opening day clash at Southampton on Saturday.

The pair, who scored 32 goals between them last season are on the sidelines through injury.

Somma is ruled out with a long-term injury after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury whilst Becchio is out with a hamstring injury.

Grayson will need to decide whether to start with Ross McCormack or Billy Paynter in attack.

First team players, Alex Bruce, Aidy White, Federico Bessone and Mike Grella will not be involved after being including in the squad for a friendly at Farsley Celtic on the same day.

Grayson looks set to start with Andy Lonergan in goal ahead of fellow new signing Paul Rachubka.

Leeds could also give debuts to Michael Brown and Darren O`Dea who have also signed during the summer.

Andy O`Brien and Robert Snodgrass are expected to start after returning from injury in last weekends pre season win over Newcastle United.

Southampton star teenager Alex Chamberlain is doubtful after suffering an ankle injury in the pre season game with West Brom.

Saints boss Nigel Adkins looks set to hand debuts to summer signings Jack Cork and Steve De Ridder.
