Leeds United midfielder Robert Snodgrass was delighted to be back playing after missing the last three games after undergoing surgery on his appendix.
Snodgrass returned on Saturday in the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace, as a second half substitute and he made an instant impact scoring within ten minutes of his return to get Leeds level.
The Scotland international admitted it was great to be playing again and expected to be out much longer than the 16 days he spent on the sidelines.
Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Snodgrass said, “First and foremost it was great to get on the park. I was missing it badly.
“I thought I was going to be out for bit longer than I have been, and it`s one of those things you have to deal with. I just tried to get as fit as I could and the gaffer threw me right back in.”
Despite Crystal Palace being down to ten men following the dismissal of Sean Scannell on the stroke of half time, Leeds had lacked a positive threat in the final third until the introduction of Snodgrass.
Snodgrass made an instant impact offering a new threat down the right with Andros Townsend switching to the left wing.
Eight minutes into his return, Snodgrass was on hand to poke home following a cut back from Ross McCormack.
Leeds continued to have plenty of possession and Snodgrass came close to adding a second but a Palace defender blocked his goal-bound effort.
Mikael Forssell had Leeds best chance to win the game with just five minutes remaining following a corner from Snodgrass but he could only hit his shot straight at Juliano Speroni in the Palace goal.
The draw means Leeds have slipped to eleventh in the championship although they are still only three points outside the play off places.
