Alan Sheehan is hoping to put himself back in the first team picture after playing his first game of pre season at Shelbourne on Tuesday night.

The 22 year old will be hoping to impress and improve his game under boss Simon Grayson like a number of others did in the second half of last season.

The left back hasn`t started a League game since the disappointing 2-0 home defeat by Carlisle United last season and then fell behind Ben Parker in the pecking order.

Sheehan`s days at Elland Road looked to be numbered when he was sent out on loan at Crewe Alexandra, injury brought a premature end to the loan and he returned to training two weeks ago.

The Irishman is now hoping to put together a good run of performances and work his way back into the starting eleven, speaking on the official website Sheehan said “I was delighted to hear when the manager said everyone was starting from scratch again”.

Sheehan has tough competition in the left back position with Ben Parker and Aiden White both impressing in that position and it`s a good headache for Grayson to have.

Sheehan is aware of the hard job he faces when continuing he said “I`ve got to work hard this year and take my chance when it comes”.
