We are now looking back at the month of October in Leeds promotion winning season and despite suffering their first defeat of the season they continue to set the pace at the top of League One.
The month started with a top of the table clash at Elland Road against Charlton Athletic.
The sold out boards were up around Elland Road, with a sell out crowd, close to 32,000 inside the ground.
On a very blustery afternoon that made life difficult for both sides a dour 0-0 draw was the outcome.
The one bit of bad news was an injury to striker Luciano Becchio who stood on the ball and would spend a while on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
Leeds trip to Bristol Rovers later in the month was called off when Leeds had three players called up for international duty.
Robert Snodgrass earned his first call up for the full Scotland squad but injury would rule him out.
Snodgrass had enjoyed a good start to the season and was rewarded when he picked up the PFA Fans Player of the Month for August and September.
Simon Grayson was again nominated for the manager of the month award, this time for September but was once again overlooked despite remaining unbeaten in the league.
Leeds progressed in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy when they overcame a dogged Darlington side 2-1 at Elland Road thanks to goals from Andy Robinson and the returning Tresor Kandol.
Grimsby Town would be Leeds next opponents in the competition when the Mariners were drawn out to visit Elland Road in November.
The game was chosen by Sky to be shown live bringing more revenue into the club.
With Leeds having no game due to international call ups they could sit back and relax knowing they would still be top of the table after the weekends games.
Leeds next game against Norwich City was chosen for live coverage by Sky Sports and hours before the kick off they announced the signings of striker Sam Vokes from Wolves and midfielder Max Gradel from Leicester City on loan.
Sam Vokes made his first start in the game and an excellent cameo substitute appearance from Gradel quickly saw him become a fans favourite amongst the Elland Road faithful.
Jermaine Beckford scored a dramatic late winner to keep all three points at Elland Road.
Bradley Johnson gave Leeds an early lead only for it to be cancelled out by Grant Holt for the visitors who looked like they would go back to Norfolk with a deserved point until Beckford`s late strike.
Leeds suffered their first league defeat of the season next time out when Millwall, who were becoming something of a bogey side, snatched all three points with a late winner.
Neil Harris had given the Londoners an early lead only for it to be quickly cancelled out by a first goal for the club by defender Patrick Kisnorbo.
Graham Alexander scored the winner for Millwall inside the final ten minutes to end Leeds unbeaten twelve match start to the season.
Leeds were handed a FA Cup first round trip to Oldham Athletic when the draw was made and the chance to make a bit of history as the clash was to be the first FA Cup tie ever to be screened live on the internet via the FA website.
Leeds had the chance to quickly get their season back on track with a visit to Bristol Rovers that had been called off earlier in the month due to international call-ups.
Simon Grayson`s men probably put in their best away performance of the season when they won 4-0 against a side that were at the time in the play off positions. Two goals from Jermaine Beckford, one from Tresor Kandol and a first goal for the club by Sam Vokes ensured the points returned to Yorkshire.
Leeds finished the month with a home game against Yeovil and once again hit four as Bradley Johnson, Jermaine Beckford, Tresor Kandol and a first for the club by Max Gradel saw the club finish the month in fine style.
The afternoon was spoilt after the final whistle when Tresor Kandol got himself involved in an altercation with a Yeovil player that would seem him end up with a three-match ban for violent conduct.
Another good month despite suffering their first defeat, Leeds were now seven points clear of Charlton in second place after fifteen games.
Next time we will be looking back at November when Leeds involvement in cup competitions would take centre stage with three of the five games to be played in either the FA Cup or Johnstone`s Paint Trophy.
