Leeds went into February on the back of a disappointing result at Walsall, could February be the month that things finally came good?

The first game of the month was in front of the live Sky TV cameras against fellow promotion hopefuls Millwall, in a hard fought encounter Leeds came out victorious with two splendid goals from Jermaine Beckford.

The performance was overlooked in the days following when Beckford was found guilty by the FA of striking Millwall keeper David Forde, the Leeds hit man was hit with a three match suspension.

Next up was a local derby at Huddersfield, the Terriers completed a rare double over Leeds when Nathan Clarke scored the only goal.

Leeds were soon back in action in midweek at relegation threatened Hereford United, the whites put in a woeful performance losing 2-0.

Leeds spurned the chance to take the lead just past the half hour when loan striker Lee Trundle had his spot kick saved. Within minutes Hereford were ahead thanks to Myrie-Williams.

Febien Brandy wrapped up the points for the home side just past the hour.
Leeds fans showed their disgust by chanting obscenities at the Leeds players in the closing stages of the match.

It also seemed to be one poor performance to many for new boss Simon Grayson who locked the players in the dressing room for almost an hour after the final whistle and read the riot act.

Leeds were back at Elland Road the following Saturday, an easy 2-0 victory over strugglers Cheltenham Town helped lift some of the gloom. Johnny Howson who was enjoying a good spell in the side scored both the goals.

Jermaine Beckford returned after his three match suspension and quickly got back amongst the goals against fellow promotion hopefuls Scunthorpe United.
Leeds went into a two goal lead thanks to Beckford and Bradley Johnson before Gary Hooper
Scored a brace to bring the Iron level.

Beckford had the final word with just over twenty minutes remaining to keep Leeds in the play off picture.

Simon Grayson`s side was also turning Elland Road into something of a fortress winning their fifth home game in a row.

After another mixed month by Leeds, the club finished February in the final play off place one point ahead of seventh place Scunthorpe who had played a game less.

Could Leeds find consistency in March and could they improve their poor away form?

Find out next week when I will be doing a review of March.
