We now take a look back at February when Leeds involvement in the cup competitions come to an end and their stuttering league campaign continues.

The month starts with the transfer window closing, going out from Elland Road are Paul Huntington and David Prutton who join Stockport and Colchester respectively.

Leeds are chosen again for live TV coverage, this time it`s the Easter Monday game at Yeovil Town.

Jermain Defoe finally knocks Leeds out the FA Cup, his hat trick helps Spurs record a 3-1 replay win at Elland Road, to bring to an end a memorable run in the competition.

Leeds are held to a draw in their next league game at Hartlepool United after conceding an equaliser deep into stoppage time.
Luciano Becchio twice gave Leeds the lead but Anthony Sweeney`s goal three minutes into stoppage time ensures Leeds only return to Elland Road with a point.

Carlisle knocks Leeds out of the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy at Brunton Park on penalties after an enthralling second leg.

Leeds trailed 2-1 after the first leg at Elland Road and looked to be on their way out with a whimper when they trailed 1-0 at half time in the second leg and 3-1 on aggregate.

Robert Snodgrass gave Leeds a little hope in the first minute of the second half when he reduced the arrears but Leeds found themselves two goals behind again when Hurst scored for the home side with less than twenty minutes remaining.

Goals inside the final ten minutes by Jason Crowe and Mike Grella ensured the tie went to penalties.

Shane Lowry missed the vital kick for Leeds with the score at 6-5 to send the Cumbrian side through to the final.

The game is marred at the end by a pitch invasion by Carlisle fans that resulted in a number of Leeds players complaining that some of the fans had struck them as they left the pitch.

Leeds are quickly back in league action and despite totally dominating at Leyton Orient have to come from behind in the closing stages to claim a point.

Leeds claim a point thanks to an own goal, but once again it`s more importantly points dropped at the top of the table.

Walsall becomes the first team to claim all three points at Elland Road in over a year in the next fixture thanks to a late controversial goal.

McSheffrey scored his first goal for Leeds to bring the sides level after Walsall took a shock lead in the first minute of the second half.

With Leeds looking the more likely side to claim all three points, McDonald`s effort is adjudged to have crossed the line to give the visitors all three points.

Leeds were back in action at Elland Road four days later and almost make it two home defeats in a row.
Brighton took the lead inside the final fifteen minutes from the penalty spot. Robert Snodgrass salvages a point for Leeds deep into injury time when he pokes home from close range.

Leeds finally gets back to winning ways in their next league fixture against Oldham Athletic at Elland Road.

Luciano Becchio scores a brace to continue his good form in front of goal in February to earn a much-needed three points in a 2-0 win.

Davide Somma who has only featured once for Leeds since signing at the start of the season joins League Two side Lincoln City on an initial one month loan deal.

Next up for Leeds is the West Yorkshire derby at Huddersfield Town and once again, the two sides share the points in a 2-2 draw.

Leeds come from behind to take the lead thanks to goal from Jon Howson and Luciano Becchio.

Once again, a goal in the final five minutes of a game involving Leeds this month by Gary Roberts, denies Leeds all three points.

A very busy month sees Leeds play eight games; it finally ends with their League One promotion hopes in the balance after a disappointing month, which sees them record just the one win.

Leeds are still in second place but with their current form the teams behind them are moving ever closer.

Next week we take a look back at March when Leeds continue to drop points and fans are starting to contemplate the dreaded play offs once again.
