Leeds took their place back in the Championship in August after a three season absence.
Simon Grayson had been busy during the summer and had already brought in Kasper Schmeichel, Paul Connolly, Federico Bessone, Lloyd Sam, Adam Clayton, Neil Collins, Sanchez Watt and Billy Paynter to strengthen his squad.
Leeds started the season with a home game against Derby County in front of the live TV cameras.
Derby left Elland Road with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from old boy Rob Hulse and a penalty from Kris Commons.
Luciano Becchio was having to get used to life without Jermaine Beckford who had moved to Everton during the summer.
The Argentinian quickly got amongst the goals as he levelled for Leeds but it wasn`t to prove enough as the club suffered their first opening day defeat since 1989.
Leeds were quickly back in action at Elland Road and easily disposed of Lincoln City in the Carling Cup first round. Goals from John Howson, Luciano Becchio, Lloyd Sam and a Neil Kilkenny gave them a comfortable win.
The second round draw gave Leeds another home tie against fellow Championship side Leicester City.
Nottingham Forest were Leeds first opponents on the road, once again moved for live TV coverage.
Leeds found themselves under intense pressure for the opening twenty minutes of the game and fell behind to a Dexter Blackstock goal.
Lloyd Sam made it two goals in two games to bring Leeds level before half time.
Leeds looked the most likely winners in the second half and Sanchez Watt missed a great late chance to gain all three points.
The game saw an altercation between players of both sides after Chris Gunter stamped on Sanchez Watt.
The Forest defender was later given a three-match ban for his offence and both clubs were fined for their parts in the altercation.
Next up for Leeds were Millwall, a club that seemed to have the measure of Leeds in recent season.
Despite falling behind early on after Richard Naylor own goal, Leeds put in one of their best performances of the season to earn their first win of the season.
Lloyd Sam made it three goals in three games and a brace from substitute Davide Somma, his first goals for the club, gave Leeds a comprehensive 3-1 victory.
Leeds were back in Carling Cup action in midweek and Davide Somma scored his third goal for the club to give them a half time lead.
Leicester came back into the game in the second half, goals from Richie Wellens and a penalty from Steve Howard in the last minute, brought to an end Leeds participation in the season`s competition.
The month finished with the sides first away win of the season at Watford.
An early goal from Richard Naylor and an inspired performance by Kasper Schmeichel in goal earned Leeds a 1-0 win.
The club have enjoyed a decent start to the season and they finish the month in sixth place with seven points.
Queens Park Rangers, Cardiff City and Ipswich Town set the early pace at the top of the table with ten points.
Simon Grayson has a busy end to the month with the transfer window closing.
He strengthens his squad with the signings of Ross McCormack and Ramon Nunez and he also makes Adam Clayton`s loan move from Manchester City into a permanent deal after his initial one-month loan at the club.
Grayson shows the door to Alan Sheehan who sees his contract cancelled at Elland Road.
Lubomir Michalik also goes out on loan to League One side Carlisle United after being told by Grayson to actively look for a new club during the summer.
Next week we will be looking back at September, when it proves to be a goal fest, unfortunately most of them going in at the wrong end as Leeds are involved in two games consisting of seventeen goals in total.
