Departed goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel wishes Leeds all the best for the new season and is hoping to see his former and new employees celebrate promotion together.

Schmeichel signed a three-year deal at the Walker Stadium on Monday after being told by Leeds last week that he was no longer part of their plans and had accepted an offer from Leicester.

The keeper was shocked by the news last week and he issued his own statement explaining his disappointment in Leeds decision to let him leave.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post , Schmeichel said, “I didn`t see it coming, but that is football and you can`t take anything for granted in football. That is one thing I have learned.”

The two sides meet on the final day of the season at Elland Road and Schmeichel would be happy to see both sides celebrating promotion, “It`s in the past now and I wish Leeds all the best. I hope the last day of this season we can be celebrating promotion,” he continued.

Whilst Leicester have been very busy in the transfer market so far this summer Leeds have still only brought in one player, goalkeeper Paul Rachubka after his release from Blackpool.

Do not worry though; apparently, there are ‘plenty of irons in the fire!`
