Leeds United goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is hoping for a return to the Premier League with the Elland Road club.

Schmeichel has already had a short taste of Premier League football Manchester City and he is hoping for another chance with Leeds, by helping them to promotion this season.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Football League Weekend Show, Schmeichel said, “The ambition is to get promoted. I don`t think there is any another way of putting it.
“I want to play in the Premier League; everyone wants to play in the Premier League and I`d love to be able to do that with Leeds.”

The 24 year old has been in great form for Leeds since his summer arrival from Notts County, who he helped win the League Two title last season.

Schmeichel was in great early season form before a foot injury forced him to miss eight games, during which Leeds lost four games including heavy defeats to Barnsley and Preston.

The keeper returned for the heavy home defeat to Cardiff but since then, Leeds have lost just one of their next eighteen Championship games.

Schmeichel also won plaudits for his excellent performances in both games against Arsenal, in the FA Cup, performances that earned him the player of the round.

Leeds have conceded heavily this season but have started to sort out their defensive problems in recent games and have now kept three clean sheets in their last five games.

Schmeichel will be hoping for another clean sheet when Leeds entertain fellow promotion candidates Norwich at Elland Road today.
