Leeds United midfielder Lloyd Sam is hoping to put an injury hit first season behind him having worked hard to regain his fitness.

Sam joined last summer from Charlton Athletic and quickly established himself in the championship with Leeds.

He was a regular on the score sheet in August, scoring in three games in a row against Lincoln City, Nottingham Forest and Millwall.

The 26 year old was then hampered with a troublesome knee injury saw him make his final start of the season against Preston at the end of September.

Sam is now hoping that his hard work over the summer will pay dividends as he returned to pre season training with the rest of the squad last Friday.

Speaking on the official website , Sam said, “I`ve been in quite a lot of the off season so coming back last week wasn`t a lot different for me.
Since March, I`ve been working on a programme to strengthen my leg because I kept breaking down with a knee injury.
“It was difficult last season, but we identified the problem that my left leg wasn`t strong enough. Hopefully it`s strong enough now.”

The midfielder made his final appearance of the season at Hull at the beginning of February, making twenty appearances in total during the season.
