Leeds United boss Simon Grayson says he will not be adding to his backroom staff, ending rumours of a return to the club of former Elland Road favourite Lucas Radebe.

South African Radebe had hinted during the World Cup finals, which are taking place in his home country that he was returning to Elland Road in a coaching role.

Grayson speaking about the situation said, “Nobody has spoken to me about that. Whether there are plans for him to come back in some sort of ambassadorial role or working with the younger ones, I don`t know, but it hasn`t been mentioned to me at first-team level.

“We are fortunate that we have one of the best backroom staffs number-wise, so I am not looking to bring in anybody else.”

Radebe who eared the nickname ‘The Chief` during his time at Elland Road, spent eleven seasons at the club making over 200 appearances before retiring from the game in 2005.

He was the club captain during their years under David O`Leary when they finished in the top four of the Premier League in successive years and lost in the semi-finals of both the UEFA Cup and Champions League.

Radebe is still a firm fans favourite at Elland Road with chants at every Leeds game in his honour.

He was so popular amongst some fans who are musicians that they named their group after his first club in South Africa and are famously known as the Kaiser Chiefs.

The former South African international made 70 appearances for his country, was recently awarded a PFA Merit award for his contribution to football, and joins an illustrious club of people to receive the award.
