With the season only just over the Football League have announced some important dates ahead of the 2011/12 season.

The date that all fans look forward to over the summer is Friday June 17th when next seasons fixtures will be announced.

The Championship season will start over the weekend of August 6th.

With the European Championships taking place in 2012, the Championship season will have an early finish over the weekend of April 28th and 29th.

The Play off final will be at Wembley on Saturday May 19th.

Carling Cup first round ties will take place week commencing August 8th with second round ties week commencing 22nd August.

Wembley will host the final on Sunday 26th February.

The festive period will see games on Boxing Day, New Years Eve and January 2nd.

Premier League and Championship clubs will once again enter the FA Cup at the third round stage with games taking place over the weekend of January 7th and 8th.

The final will take place at Wembley on Saturday May 12th.
