Premier League referee Phil Dowd will be the man in charge when Leeds United welcome Cardiff City to Elland Road on Sunday.

The Staffordshire official has taken charge of 8 games this season, showing 40 yellow cards (5 per game) and 1 red, which came in his last game between Aston Villa and West Brom last weekend.

This will be his first game this season officiating outside the Premier League.

Last season he was in charge of 38 games, showing 139 yellow cards (3.65 per game) and 12 reds.

Dowd took charge of Leeds on two occasions last season. He was in charge of the 1-1 draw at Arsenal in the FA Cup in January, as well as the 3-0 defeat at Swansea in February.

The last time he was in charge of Cardiff was during the 2009/10 season when they defeated local rivals Swansea City 2-1 at home.

Referee: Phil Dowd (Staffordshire)
Assistants: Simon Barrow & Glenn Turner
Fourth official: Geoff Eltringham
