When thinking of players that have played for both clubs, the one that stands out is Tomas Brolin.
Brolin joined Leeds in 1995 under Howard Wilkinson in a deal that cost the club £4.5 million.
The Swede had enjoyed a glittering international career with Sweden and also enjoyed success with Parma during a five year stint at the Italian Serie A side.
Unfortunately his time at Elland Road was less glittering and to this day if you ask fans of Leeds to name a player in their top five worst players to ever wear the shirt, Tomas Brolin would be high up on that list. In fact in a BBC Sports poll in 2003 Leeds fans voted him as the worst player to ever pull on the Leeds shirt.
Also in 2007 readers of The Times newspaper voted him as the second worst player to ever play in the Premier League.
Brolin made just twenty appearances, scoring four goals during his two years at Elland Road.
It looked like he was spending more time in the local pie shop than on the training pitch during his stay as his waistline grew bigger and bigger.
He was also proving to be a problem off the pitch; he failed to turn up for pre season in 1996, a move that saw Howard Wilkinson stop his wages and putting him on the transfer market.
With him having no future at Elland Road, Brolin had loan spells at FC Zurich and his old club Parma.
He finally left Leeds in 1997 and was offered a chance by Palace boss Steve Coppell to resurrect his career.
After a successful trial at Selhurst Park, he was offered a contract until the end of the season.
In a strange twist of fates, one of his first appearances for Palace was against Leeds.
Leeds won that afternoon 2-0 and one funny moment from the game was after Brolin had suffered a head injury following a clash of heads.
Brolin eventually returned to the pitch with a bandage wrapped around his head only for a Leeds player to blast the ball straight at his head minutes later that saw the bandage go flying down the pitch.
He managed to make 13 appearances by the end of the season but was not offered a new contract to stay with Palace.
After making just one appearance back in his native Sweden with Hudiksvalls A.B.K. Brolin announced his retirement from professional football at the tender age of 29.
Other players that have played for both sides include Vince Hilaire, Nigel Martyn, David Hopkin, Shaun Derry, John Pemberton and more recently Palace legend Dougie Freedman who had a very productive loan spell at Elland Road under Gary McAllister scoring six goals in eleven appearances.
