Leeds United manager Simon Grayson is considering loaning out striker Billy Paynter.

Paynter has made just one appearance so far this season, when he came off the bench on the opening day at Southampton and he seems to be a long way down the pecking order for one of the striker positions at the club.

Paynter has been linked with around half a dozen fellow championship sides in the past week but Grayson claims that the striker will not be joining a side in direct competition to Leeds. Speaking on the official website , Grayson said, “One thing for certain is that we wouldn`t consider Billy joining one of our rivals in the Championship so any deal would have to suit all parties, and by that I mean, us and Billy.”

The 27 year old has struggled at Elland Road since signing for Leeds from Swindon Town in the summer of 2010.

The striker arrived after netting 29 times for Swindon in the previous season, including four against Leeds in their two meetings.

Since his arrival at Leeds, his only goal in twenty-four appearances came in the 2-1 win at Preston in March.
