Leeds United has announced that almost 20,000 tickets have been sold in advance of the opening home game of the season against Exeter City.

Almost 12,000 fans turned up for the weekend friendly against Blackburn Rovers the highest attendances in the country at the weekend for a pre season friendly.

Leeds continue to be a huge attraction to their loyal fans despite starting their third season in the third tier of English League Football in less than a fortnights time.

The Whites had the highest attendance in the Football League last season when 34,214 turned up, this was bettered for the Play Off semi final when a sell out crowd of 37,036 turned for the game against Millwall.

Leeds fans are hoping that it will be third time lucky this season under boss Simon Grayson after the club finished strongly under his stewardship last season.
