*On this day in 1992, Leeds United met German side VFB Stuttgart in a replayed European Cup First Round tie. The tie had finished 4-4 with Stuttgart going through on the away goal rule. That was until it was noticed that the German side had fielded one too many foreign players in the second leg and UEFA ordered a third game to take place at the Nou Camp Stadium. Leeds went through 2-1 thanks to goals from Gordon Strachan and Carl Shutt.
