Leeds are to give a trial to Ivory Coast striker Moussa Sanogo. Sanogo was due to play in the previous night`s friendly at Grimsby Town, but Leeds failed to obtain international clearance in time for the game.
Leeds are dealt a blow with the news that striker Luciano Becchio will miss the start of the season after undergoing surgery on the hamstring injury that forced him to miss the end of last season.
Boss Simon Grayson denies that last season`s player of the year Max Gradel has handed in a transfer request. Speaking about Gradel, Grayson said, ‘I don`t know where people get this stuff from. There`s been no written transfer request and no unrest from him.’ (A month later and he`s gone)
Leeds United are giving a trial to young French defender Sebastien Faure
The 21 year old played in Leeds 2-0 win at Alfreton Town on Saturday.
Faure is a free agent after being released by top French Ligue 1 side Lyon at the end of last season.
The young centre back made his debut for Lyon in the 2008/09 season against Metz in the French League cup after coming through the clubs academy system.
Neil Warnock says he is looking to bring in up to eight players in the next couple of weeks.
Warnock has been frustrated in the transfer market so far this summer, adding just four new signings to his squad.
The new championship season is now just four weeks away from kicking off and Warnock is looking ahead to a busy couple of weeks in the transfer market Speaking prior to the game at Farsley Celtic on Friday night, Warnock said, ‘Over the next few weeks hopefully there will be a number of additions.
‘I am looking for players that are going to make a difference and not just squad players.
‘At the moment I am doing the best I can to put a good squad together to give us a good chance this season.
‘I would like to bring another eight players in. You need a squad; it is not just the top end of the market players. You need back up when you get injuries so you need a decent squad.
The squad is looking thin at the moment. So far, Warnock has brought in Jason Pearce, Paul Green, Adam Drury and Paddy Kenny and he has seen Adam Clayton and Andy Lonergan leave for fellow championship clubs.
The Leeds boss started his summer clearout at the end of last season with Ben Parker, Mika Vayrynen, Mikael Forssell, Danny Webber and Alex Bruce all released by the club.
Warnock also has five players on the transfer list with Paul Rachubka, Paul Connolly, Andy O`Brien, Ramon Nunez and Billy Paynter seen as surplus to requirements. He is looking to bring in enough players to complement the first choice players as well as those good enough to come into the side when injuries and suspensions affect the side. ‘I am looking to bring in a substantial amount of players over the next few weeks. There will also be players leaving; we have a number on the transfer list.
‘It disappoints me that we haven`t got more players in at this stage of the season. I think anything is possible over the next couple of weeks; it is just a matter of getting them over the line,’ added Warnock.
