2006
The FA disciplinary committee cleared Leeds skipper Paul Butler of breaking FA rule E3 – improper conduct and/or bringing the game into disrepute.
The charge related to an incident that occurred at Deepdale during Leeds play-off semi-final success against Preston.
A four-man committee at Sheffield United`s Bramall Lane stadium cleared Butler, who was sidelined for the game.
2007
Leeds continue to be busy in the transfer market. David Prutton and Andy Hughes are the latest players to sign for Dennis Wise.
Leeds boss Dennis Wise is still coming to terms with the 15-point penalty and the fact that 75% of League clubs voted for the deduction to stand. Wise speaking on the official website at the time said, ‘Not only have they taken my arms and legs off, now they’ve cut my balls off as well.
‘It’s just not funny at all. We’d like to know deep down the real reasons. If you look at the teams in our division I’m sure they probably wouldn’t have voted for us.
‘Some will have done it for their own reasons and probably not the right reasons. Everyone wants to get a head start, so 23 teams in our league have got a very good head start on us.’
2009
Leeds progress to the second round of the Carling Cup with a 1-0 win at Darlington. Enoch Showunmi scores the only goal of the game.
2010
Goals from Jonny Howson, Luciano Becchio, Lloyd Sam and a Neil Kilkenny penalty see Leeds cruise past Lincoln City 4-0 in the first round of the Carling Cup at Elland Road.
2011
Chairman Ken Bates admits Leeds were interested in bringing Alan Smith back to Elland Road but they couldn`t not come close to matching the demands of his club Newcastle United. Speaking at the time, Bates said ‘We were interested in Alan Smith. Alan Smith was prepared to consider coming to us. He was on £3 million a year and Newcastle wanted a £1 million a year contribution. As I have said before, £1 million plus government tax equals £1.15 million, we cannot afford it, it is as simple as that. The result is of course that Newcastle have a player they don`t particularly want.’
2012
Leeds United boss Neil Warnock has placed both Danny Pugh and Robbie Rogers on the transfer list.
The duo have seen little match action during pre-season and with an influx of midfield players over the summer they are now seen as surplus to requirements by Warnock who needs to free up cash to bring in any more players.
