*On this day in 1967, Leeds beat Italian side Bologna 1-0 at Elland Road thanks to a penalty from Johnny Giles. The aggregate scored finished 1-1 so the winners were decided by a toss of a coin on the Elland Road pitch at the end of the game. The Bologna captain called incorrectly as Leeds went through on the toss of a coin in European football for the first time, something they would repeat again in 1969 when they beat another Italian side Napoli.
