*On this day in 1990, fans witnessed a pulsating clash between Leeds United and Hull City at Elland Road.

John Hendrie gave Leeds the lead with a long-range header from the edge of the area. Andy Peyton equalised from the penalty spot for Hull before one of the goals of the season by Vinnie Jones put Leeds ahead for a second time. Peyton scored his second penalty of the game to bring Hull level for a second time before Steve Doyle scored a replica of Jones strike for Leeds in the first half.

With less than ten minutes remaining, Imre Varadi equalised for Leeds on his debut for the club and in injury time, Gordon Strachan fired home a crucial winner as Leeds moved a step closer to a return to the Fiirst Division.
