New on loan signing Eric Lichaj is hoping to stay with Leeds until the end of the season.

Lichaj joined from Premier League side Aston Villa on Thursday on an emergency one-month loan deal, with regular right back Paul Connolly out with a hamstring injury.

The American international would now like to make the deal last until the end of the season.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Lichaj said, “I`m open-minded. I just want to be playing and this is a great club and I`d like to stay until the end of the season, if possible.
“With the (Bristol) win, I don`t know where it takes us, but we may have climbed a few spots and we`re very close to the top three, so it should be a good end to the season.
“I`ve been out on loan before, but coming to Leeds is a different level and there`s more quality (in the Championship) and you could just tell in the (Bristol) game.”

The 22 year old quickly settled into the Leeds side, with an accomplished performance in defence in the 2-0 win at Bristol City at the weekend.

Regular right back Paul Connolly is also only one yellow card away from a two-match suspension for picking up ten yellow cards this season; this could make Grayson consider taking the deal past the initial one-month loan deal.

His performance earned him a place in the Football League Championship Team of the week that is chosen by the Press Association for the top eleven performing players for their positions over the weekends games.
