Leeds United midfielder Eunan O`Kane has apologised for his red card at Ipswich Town last weekend admitting he is disgusted with himself for the incident.

O`Kane was shown a straight red card in the first half of the 1-0 defeat at Ipswich after putting his head in towards Ipswich defender Jonas Knudsen.

The red card was a first for O`Kane in almost 300 professional career appearances and the Republic of Ireland international admits he let himself down.

“I don`t think I need to talk anymore about it, everyone has seen what happened,” O`Kane told LUTV.

“The only thing I can do is apologise.

“Personally, I am disgusted with myself. My actions were very bad, I don`t condone it.

“I don`t have a reason for why I did it and I cannot explain it.

“I am disgusting with myself and I can only apologise to everyone connected with Leeds United, the fans, the board and the players for my actions.

“It happened in the heat of the moment. It is something I pride myself on is not being hot headed and being calm and I have let myself down as much as everyone else.”

Leeds have a disciplinary problem at the moment, as O`Kane, who joined Samu Saiz on the sidelines through suspension, watched Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips join them on the sidelines through suspension in the game against Millwall on Saturday.

Cooper is to serve a four-match ban after picking up his second red card of the season and Phillips was shown his tenth yellow card of the season, an automatic two-match suspension under the totting-up system.
