Leeds United have completed the signing of Celtic defender Darren O`Dea.

The defender has signed on a season long loan and he will go straight into the squad for the weekend game at Southampton, once he gains international clearance.

The Republic of Ireland international started his career at Home Farm in Ireland before joining Celtic in 2006.

O`Dea has made 70 appearances for Celtic and has won the Scottish premier League title on two occasions.

He has also enjoyed Champions League experience and won rave reviews after his performance against AC Milan at the San Siro.

The 24 year old won a special place in Celtic fans hearts when he scored the opening goal in the Scottish League Cup final against old firm rivals Glasgow Rangers in 2009.

He also won the Scottish FA Cup in 2008.

O`Dea has already spent time in England, having loan spells at Reading and a season long loan at Ipswich Town last season.

His form at club level as seen him capped at both under 21 and first team level for the Republic of Ireland.

O`Dea is the fourth player brought in by Grayson during the summer, following goalkeepers Paul Rachubka and Andy Lonergan as well as midfielder Michael Brown.

The defender follows former Leeds players Gary Kelly, Ian Harte, Alan Maybury and Stephen McPhail to start their careers at Home Farm before going on to play for Leeds.
