Leeds United utility man Aidy White looks like finding himself in a new position in the side this season.
White has been used in a number of positions since making his debut for the club as a 16-year-old in 2008.
The Leeds academy product played in an attacking role in Leeds first pre-season game of the season at Farsley on Saturday, capping it off with a fine strike to complete the scoring and McDermott says he has spoken with the player about using him in this new position.
Speaking on the official website , McDermott said, ‘I feel Aidy can play in an attacking off-the-striker role and I’ve talked to him about that.
‘He’s really looked after himself over the summer and he’s come back and wants to make an impression. He’s certainly done that to me.
‘He scored a terrific goal at Farsley and I think that off-the-striker position could suit him.’
Last season, he made 33 appearances for Leeds and he was used at left back as well as both the left and right side of midfield.
He scored his first senior goal for Leeds last season when he scored the opener against Premier League side Everton in the 2-1 League Cup win at Elland Road, when he used his pace to go through the Everton defence.
White has made 99 appearances for Leeds in his five seasons involved in the first team at Elland Road.
