Richard Naylor is wishing the season could go on a few more months after finally getting back in the starting line up at Elland Road.

The Leeds skipper has missed a large chunk of the season through injury and only recently returned to side in the game with Reading, his first game since October.

Since his return, Leeds have conceded just one goal in his three games and he feels that his partnership with Andy O`Brien was beginning to gel.

Speaking after the 1-0 win over Burnley at the weekend, Naylor said, ‘In the last couple of home games we’ve been very tight at the back.
‘It’s been nice for me to be back in the side and make a little bit of a difference in that respect.
‘The partnership with Andy O’Brien has worked well and who knows, maybe if I’d played a little earlier with Andy, it might have been different.
‘It’s been frustrating, but there are a lot of good centre-backs at the club. I wish the season was a couple of months longer because I feel like I’ve only just started.’

Leeds have used a number of different combinations in the centre of defence this season, with Leigh Bromby, Neil Collins, Richard Naylor, Andy O`Brien and Alex Bruce all having an opportunity to cement a place in the side.

Leeds have had to do without last seasons Player of the Year Patrick Kisnorbo for the entire season through injury.

Unfortunately, for a team chasing a promotion place for most of the season, Leeds have one of the leakiest defences in the Championship, having conceded sixty-nine goals, with only the bottom four sides in the division having conceded more.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson sold Neil Collins during the January transfer window and both Richard Naylor and Patrick Kisnorbo are out of contract in the summer.
