Leeds United have announced that Richard Naylor will be leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of June.

The club captain has been told he is free to look for another club after spending two and a half years at Elland Road.

The Leeds born lad joined Leeds in January 2009 after spending fifteen years at Ipswich Town and he fulfilled a lifelong ambition to play for the club that he had supported from the terraces as a boy.

Naylor was boss Simon Grayson`s first signing as manager of the club and he was quick to praise the contribution of his departing skipper. Speaking on the official website, he said, “I`d like to thank Richard for everything that he has done during his two and a half years with us.
“He`s been a great captain for the club, both on and off the field and I can`t speak highly enough of him and what he has done.”

The 34 year old made 76 appearances during his time at Elland Road but he has struggled through injury during the past two seasons.

He made just 16 appearances this season and didn`t feature for over five months between October and March.
