Leeds United head coach Garry Monk says his side have the character to respond to the setback of dropping out of the play-off places.

Leeds slipped out of the play-off places on goal difference over the Easter period after picking up just one point from their two games whilst both Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham took maximum points to leapfrog Leeds in the table.

With just three games remaining this season, Leeds fate is still in their own hands with Sheffield Wednesday hosting Fulham on the final day of the season and Monk says the club has risen to every challenge they have faced so far this season.

“One thing we have always been good at is responding, this group have that character, we want to win these final three games, it`s not going to be easy, but we believe we can achieve it,” Monk told the Leeds official website.

“Whenever a challenge has been put in front of this club it rises to the occasion and that is not just the players, but also the fans.

“There is a lot of football to be played, there are a lot of twists and turns, but I don`t think there are a better set of fans to have behind us when we have a challenge.”

Leeds slipped out of the top six following their disappointing home defeat by Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, this after Leeds had claimed a dramatic late point at Newcastle United on the Friday.

It is two games without a win for Leeds and the side have not gone three games without a win since the opening three games of the season, showing their ability to bounce back.

Burton Albion are the next test for Leeds with the brewers still fighting to preserve their championship place. Burton won at Birmingham on Monday and they know a win against Leeds would almost guarantee their safety but they will have to do without Luke Murphy. Murphy joined Burton on loan from Leeds in January and he has played a pivotal part in their battle against relegation but he is ineligible against his parent club.

Leeds will welcome Ronaldo Vieira back into the squad after the youngster missed the Easter period through illness but they will once again be without Liam Cooper through suspension.
