Leeds United head coach Garry Monk says he has to respect the clubs wishes to leave it until the end of the season before sitting down and discussing his future at the club.
Despite the disappointment of seeing Leeds slip out of the play-off places in the final weeks of the season, Monk has lead Leeds to their highest finish in six-years and they have already amassed 74 points, a total that would usually be enough to guarantee a play-off place.
Monk arrived at Leeds last summer, signing a one-year rolling contract with the club but his future is still unclear.
‘I’ve got one more game left and, you know me, I will be focussed on that,” Monk told The Yorkshire Evening Post.
‘But like I said in the week, the club have said when they want to speak so I have to respect that and even when that point comes, it will be a case of us both agreeing on the right way to go forward.
‘Of course, for me, I know clearly how I would take it forward and take the club forward and the squad forward and the club will have their views as well.
‘That’s all to come, that’s been said for a number of weeks now.
‘There are really solid foundations now for the club to build upon and take this club forward. We’ll see how that happens.’
The past three summers, Leeds have left it until the final day of May before announcing the departure of the clubs head coach.
