There will be a minute`s applause prior to the Leeds United v Brentford game this weekend as a mark of respect for Macclesfield Town manager Keith Alexander who died in the week.

The Football League has asked that all Football League grounds take part in the minute`s applause.

The 53 year old had just returned home from his sides away trip at Notts County on Tuesday night when he began to feel unwell.

England players wore black armbands as a mark of respect for their midweek friendly with Egypt for the well liked former Lincoln, Grimsby and Stockport striker.

Macclesfield have decided to play their game this weekend with Hereford United after consultation with Alexander`s family, he would have been celebrating his 100th game in charge of the club.
