Middlesbrough officials are hoping the bad weather stays away from the Riverside Stadium this evening and tomorrow as they look to get their game on against Leeds United.

The Teesside club have been working around the clock to keep the pitch, stands and surrounding areas clear of snow, as the ‘beast from the east` continues to batter the UK.

Middlesbrough have met with the Middlesbrough council and Police today to discuss public safety issues ahead of the clash on Friday evening to try and ensure the game, that is being shown live on Sky TV, can go ahead.

An update is expected on Friday morning.

Games have already started to fall this weekend with the Championship fixture between Sheffield United and Burton on Saturday already a victim to the weather.

Three games in League One and one game in League Two have also already been called off due to the freezing weather conditions.
