Leeds United boss Brian McDermott wants to finish the season strongly after they made it back-to-back wins with a 1-0 win at Barnsley on Saturday.

Ross McCormack scored his 29th goal of the season to separate the side as Leeds also made it back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since December.

Leeds have won both their games since the takeover of the club of new owner Massimo Cellino, something McDermott says has helped and with three games remaining, he wants to finish the season on a high.

Speaking to LUTV, McDermott said, “We want to finish the season as strongly as we possibly can. Our ownership is now sorted out and we have won the last two games.

“We have had a period of calm in the past ten-days or so and I think it shows.”

Leeds are quickly back in action on Monday as play-off chasing Nottingham Forest visit Elland Road. Forest are back in the play-off picture after they ended a poor run with a 1-0 home win over Birmingham City on Saturday.

The whites play their final away game of the season next Saturday when they visit Birmingham, who are in danger of being dragged into the relegation places. Birmingham welcome Blackburn Rovers to St Andrews on Monday before the visit of Leeds and they need to end a run that has seen them fail to win at home since early October.

Leeds finish the season with a home game against Derby County, who will are expected to be preparing for the play-offs with them already guaranteed a place in the top six but only having a slim hope of finishing in the top two.

Three wins could see Leeds finish in the top half of the table with them currently occupying 16th place.
