Leeds United boss Brian McDermott says he would like to have his squad for next season together by the time the players report back for pre-season training.
The squad are now on holiday for the summer but McDermott is already working hard to bring new players into the squad and the new manager says he would ideally like them in place before the players return for pre-season training on June 27th. ‘I’ve also done a list of players I think will be good for the squad,” McDermott told the official website .
“Ideally, you’d like them in when you start pre-season, but my experiences of transfer windows are that things move slower than you’d like.
“What will be will be, and we will try and recruit the best we can.’
McDermott has already announced his released list with ten players shown the door at Elland Road. He is still to announce whether he will be putting anyone on the transfer list. Danny Pugh is the only player currently at the club on the transfer list having been put on the list by former manager Neil Warnock last summer. Pugh, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, still as twelve months remaining on his current contract with the club.
The former Reading boss is already being linked with some of his former players at the Madejski Stadium. Kevin Doyle, Noel Hunt and Adam Le Fondre have all been linked with a move to Elland Road.
