Leeds United boss Brian McDermott says he wants to stay in the hunt in the championship and build some momentum going into the second half of the season.
Leeds moved up to eighth in the championship table with a 2-0 home win over Yeovil Town on Saturday and they are now just three points off the play-off places.
McDermott, who led Reading to the championship title two seasons ago with a storming second half of the season, says he just wants to keep Leeds in contention going into the New Year.
Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, McDermott said, “It is actually my best start to the season as a manager.
“If we there or thereabouts at the end of December and get some momentum going, you never know what can happen in this league.”
Leeds have now won three in a row at home but their away form continues to be their Achilles heel. After winning just four times on the road last season, they are continuing to struggle on their travels, picking up just seven points from seven games so far this season. This comes after they won two and drew one of their first three away games this season. Leeds have now lost four in a row away from home and they must pick up their away form if they are to have any chance of being in the mix come the end of the season.
