Leeds United boss Brian McDermott says he will allow El Hadji Diouf to leave the club this transfer window if the right deal comes along.
The 33-year-old has made just five appearances for Leeds this season and he hasn`t featured since the game at Derby County on October 5th.
Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, McDermott said, “I told him I`m trying to build something here.
“If there`s an opportunity that`s right for him, then yes, he can go.
“But if not then he`s here.”
He arrived at Elland Road at the start of last season under former boss Neil Warnock and he was a regular in the side in his first season at Elland Road making 45 appearances.
His season ended prematurely when he was sent off on the penultimate weekend of last season when he was adjudged to make a gesture towards Brighton supporters after he had levelled the score for Leeds from the penalty spot.
He returned from his summer break injured and he didn`t feature in pre-season. He returned to first team action on the third weekend of the season but he was in and out of the squad and McDermott was often fending off questions as to the whereabouts of Diouf.
Diouf missed an early part of the season after the death of his close friend, mentor and former Senegal national manager Bruno Metsu and McDermott has recently reported that Diouf has been away on compassionate leave due to a family illness.
One manager who is being linked with a move for Diouf is his former boss Sam Allardyce.
Allardyce worked with Diouf at Bolton for four-years, becoming a firm favourite during his time at the Reebok.
Diouf is out of contract at Elland Road this summer.
