Leeds United manager Brian McDermott is delighted to have signed Manchester United defender Scott Wootton.

The 21-year-old has signed for Leeds on a three-year deal and McDermott feels he will develop his game at Elland Road.

McDermott said, “I`m delighted to have agreed the signing of Scott Wootton on a three-year deal. He`s a player who has played in the Champions League and someone we feel will develop with us in the coming years.

“I want to say thanks for the owners in doing the deal and bringing another young player to help us go forward.”

After coming through the ranks at Manchester United, Wootton enjoyed loan spells at Tranmere Rovers, Nottingham Forest and two spells at Peterborough United.

He finally made his debut for Manchester United last season, appearing twice in the Champions League and twice in the Capital One League Cup.

Leeds will have to pay a fee for Wootton due to his age and he becomes the fourth signing made by McDermott during this transfer window.
