Leeds United striker Ross McCormack is in the running for the npower championship player of the month for September.

McCormack scored five times in three championship games during September and he is currently at the top of the championship goalscoring charts with eight goals this season.

The striker faces competition for the award from fellow striker Rickie Lambert – Southampton and defenders Matthew Bates – Middlesbrough and Jason Shackell – Derby County.

The winner will be announced live on Sky Sports News on Friday morning from 10am.

Despite remaining unbeaten during September, winning two and drawing one of their three games, manager Simon Grayson is not amongst those nominated for the manager`s award.
