Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen says he intends to feature defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson in the FA Cup tie at Newport County this weekend.
Reports suggested that Leeds and his parent club Manchester United were looking to terminate the season-long loan of the young full-back after his lack of first team football since his arrival at Elland Road.
With the January transfer window now open, Christiansen was asked whether the 20-year-old would be returning to Old Trafford this month.
What I know is that he will play the next game,” Christiansen told The Yorkshire Evening Post.
His involvement at Newport would mean that Borthwick-Jackson would then be cup tied if he was to return to Manchester United and he would not be able to feature for anyone else in this season`s competition.
He has made just five appearances since his arrival at Leeds, his last coming at Leicester City in the Carabao Cup in October and both Gaetano Berardi and Vurnon Anita are ahead of him in the Leeds squad at left-back.
