Another day has passed and another new favourite as emerged in the race to be the next manager of Leeds United.

Neil Warnock, Lee Clark, Dave Jones, Billy Davies, Neil Redfearn and now Mick McCarthy have all been favourites since the market opened thirteen days ago following the sacking of Simon Grayson.

McCarthy has always been amongst the favourites for the job since the market opened but his price has shortened dramatically following his dismissal as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

McCarthy is just 7/4 with Sky Bet, with previous favourite Neil Redfearn drifting slightly. Redfearn is still 5/2 with Ladbrokes but is generally between 7/2 and 4/1.

Yorkshire born McCarthy has guided both Sunderland and Wolves to promotion to the Premier League in the last seven years.

He also enjoyed a successful spell in charge of Republic of Ireland and led them to the World Cup finals in 2002 before going out on penalties to Spain in the second round.

Paul Ince was a big market mover over the weekend but he is now back out to 8/1 and he can even be found at 33/1 with Ladbrokes.

One of his former Manchester United colleagues has seen his odds shortened today. Steve Bruce has been out of work since being sacked by Sunderland in November and he is just 3/1 with Ladbrokes and William Hill.
