Leeds United goalkeeper Andy Lonergan is looking for the side to take their good away form into the festive period.

Leeds face trips to Derby County on Boxing Day and Barnsley on New Year`s Eve and Lonergan is looking for the side to bounce back from two poor performances with wins on the road.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Lonergan said, “We`ve got Derby and Barnsley away from home which are both winnable games and maybe that is what we need.”

Whilst Leeds are struggling to find their form at Elland Road having won just one of their last six at home, their away form is impressive having lost just one of their last eight games on the road.

Lonergan says their recent form has nothing to do with playing in front of expectant fans at Elland Road
“The majority of fans are right behind us when we are at home and I don`t think we`re anxious.
“It`s nothing to do with playing at Elland Road, maybe teams who come here are playing differently and frustrating us, rather than us panicking if things don`t go our way,” continued Lonergan.

Lonergan made his first start for Leeds against Reading on Saturday since breaking a finger in the game at Doncaster in October.

Alex McCarthy has done well since arriving on loan from Reading in November but he was unable to play in the game against his parent club.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson must decide whether to stick with Lonergan or recall McCarthy for the game at Derby.
