Lincoln City are hoping to sign Leeds striker Davide Somma after his loan spell ends at the end of the season.

The imps have just extended the South Africans loan spell to the end of the season after he impressed during his initial month`s loan scoring five goals in five games.

Lincoln City vice chairman Bob Dorrianspeaking on BBC Lincolnshire said, “We would be more than happy to pay a fee for Davide.
Leeds have got an option for a further two years so we would have to buy that out if Leeds didn`t want him”.

Somma joined Leeds in the summer of 2009 on trial and was offered a one year deal in Spetember with an option of a further two years if they wanted after impressing.

The 24 year old made an instant impression in the reserves scoring two goals on his debut against Rotherham United.

He made his debut as a substitute for the first team in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy clash with Darlington and looked promising before suffering an hamstring injury ten minutes into his debut.

With first team opportunities limited Leeds boss Simon Grayson decided to loan Somma out to gain some first team experience and he joined Chesterfield in November. This was cut short after he suffered a injury in his third game.

Somma joined Lincoln in Feburary and scored on his debut in the 1-1 home draw with Crewe.

Despite only being with the club a month he`s already leading the Lincoln goalscoring charts for the season with five goals, which have helped them pull away from the League Two drop zone.
