The atmosphere in the second half of the recent home game against Queens Park Rangers took me back a few years.

The noise inside Elland Road was terrific and the singing of ‘We are the champions, Champions of Europe` with the scarves being waved around from all four corners of the ground was a site to behold.

At the time we was only 1-0 up and a few months ago we would have been too apprehensive, full of nerves and self doubt to even contemplate seeing all four stands join in.

Former Leeds midfielder, Shaun Derry returned to Elland Road with Rangers on Saturday and admitted in an interview that we are like a twelfth man in the stands.

Before the Kop was seated, Elland Road was an intimidating place for any opposing player and fan to come to and it was well documented that our fans were worth a goal start.

In recent times, players from the opposition seem to revel in a trip to Elland Road and our own fans have been quick to get on our players backs when things weren`t going quite right.

Away from home, it is a different story and win, lose or draw the Leeds faithful sing and get behind the players for ninety minutes.

You cannot devalue the part Leeds fans play, we continuously sell out are allocations for away games, no matter how many tickets we receive.

How many clubs in any division in this country would take over 6,000 fans to both Coventry and Barnsley?

We are once again leading the way with average attendances this season with nearly 26,000 on average turning up for games at Elland Road.

We have the highest gate of the season in the Championship when over 33,000 turned up for the home game with Sheffield United.

The chairman, manager and players have all stated just what a difference we can make when we are there in huge numbers and getting behind the team.

As we head for a busy festive period and the second half of the season, we are fantastically placed in second place.

We are heading towards a crowd once again in excess of 30,000 for the home game with Portsmouth over Christmas.

Wouldn`t it be fantastic to once again be the intimidating force we once were from the terraces at Elland Road.

It`s not a rant or a whinge in any way I just want us to continue what we started in the second half against Queens Park Rangers.

When, ‘We are the champions. Champions of Europe` starts up, then get out your scarf and sing loud and sing proud.

We are the best fans in the country. MOT
