Leeds Unites are understood to be in negotiations with Leicester City about the future of on loan midfielder Max Gradel.

Gradel comes to the end of his loan period after the Exeter City game this weekend, having finished his 93-day loan period, the maximum for a short-term deal.

Leeds are interested in keeping him on loan until the end of the season but Leicester City are wanting him to either return to them or signed on a permanent deal.

The 22 year old has become a fans favourite during his loan spell at Leeds United, making a number of major contributions when coming off the bench.

He`s also chipped in with three goals, including a last minute winner in the game against Leyton Orient in November.

He initially joined on a one month loan deal back in the middle of October, he made an immediate impact and the loan was extended until the beginning of January. It was then extended to the 17th January and the maximum 93 day short term loan period.

Leicester are believed to be wanting a six figure sum for the player who hasn`t featured for the Foxes in the Championship this season.

Leeds have yet to bring in any new players during the transfer window, but have cancelled the contracts of four players and allowed defender Alan Sheehan to extend his loan at fellow League One side Swindon Town until the end of the season.
