Nigel Miller will be the man in charge when Leeds United welcome Portsmouth to Elland Road on Saturday.

The North East official has taken charge of 10 games so far this season, showing 39 yellow cards (3.9 per game) and 2 reds.

Last season he took charge of 26 games, showing 60 yellow cards (2.3 per game) and 6 red cards.

The last time he was in charge of Leeds was last season when they were defeated 6-4 at home by Preston North End.

Miller took charge of Leeds twice during the 2009/10 season, the 2-1 home win over Exeter and the 1-0 home win over Southampton.

He is probably best remembered by Leeds fans for ruling out a late David Healy goal in the 1-1 draw at Southend during the 2006/07 season that saw then boss Dennis Wise sent to the stands.

When Miller was next appointed referee of a game involving Leeds, Dennis Wise sent a request to the FA asking them to change official.

The FA turned down the request and the game was the 1-1 home draw with Leyton Orient, which saw Miller make a number of errors including missing a Orient goal in the closing minutes that had clearly crossed the line. He also sent off Orient midfielder Sean Thornton during the game.

Despite this being his ninth season on the national list it will be the first time that he has taken charge of a game involving Portsmouth.

Referee: Nigel Miller (County Durham)
Assistants: Stephen Smith & Gary Stott
Fourth official: Paul Thompson
