Simon Grayson will have to do without George McCartney for the clash with Middlesbrough on New Years Day.
The defender as returned to parent club Sunderland after finishing his 93-day loan after the Portsmouth game on Tuesday.
Ben Parker, Andy Hughes and Federico Bessone are all in contention to replace McCartney.
Grayson as no fresh injury worries and might make changes again in the middle of the busy festive period.
Middlesbrough come into the game on the back of winning 3-1 at Preston North End on Tuesday.
Barry Robson is expected to be back in the squad for the game after missing the win with a virus.
