Leeds United take another welcome break from the pressures of League One on Tuesday night when they welcome struggling League Two side Grimsby Town to Elland Road for a Johnstone`s Paint Trophy tie.

Leeds continue to set the pace in League One and are currently seven points clear of second place.
They booked their place in the second round of the FA Cup on Saturday with a 2-0 win at fellow League One side Oldham Athletic.

The Whites have now played twenty games in all competitions and have lost just two against Liverpool in the Carling Cup and Millwall in League One.

So far in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy they have beat Darlington 2-1 at home in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round.

Grimsby
The Mariners are in a desperate fight at the wrong end of League Two at the moment and they currently occupy one of the relegation places and are three points from safety.

So far this season they have won just four out of seventeen games in all competitions.

They hit a new low on Saturday when they was dumped out of the FA Cup, 2-0 at home by Non League Bath City.

Grimsby also received a bye in the first round and had an impressive 2-0 win at League One side Hartlepool United in the second round.

History
The two clubs have met on twenty occasions at Elland Road although they have only met once competitively in the last twenty two years.

The last time they met was in an FA Cup fourth round tie at Elland Road in 1998 when Leeds won 2-0 thanks to goals from Robert Molenaar and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Leeds have a far superior record when the two sides have met at Elland Road with thirteen wins to Grimsby`s two.

Grimsby have to go back all the way to 1939 for their last success at Elland Road when they won 1-0.
