Leeds United have held talks with Southampton striker Billy Sharp today about a move to Elland Road according to reports.

Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay reported on his twitter account , @PhilHayYEP , that Leeds have spoken with the player.

The Sheffield born 28-year-old as one-year remaining on his current deal at Southampton but the Premier League club are keen to offload the striker having not featured for them since August 2012.

Sharp has spent most of the last two seasons on loan in the championship with Nottingham Forest, Reading and Doncaster Rovers.

It has already been a busy day for Leeds with the signing of Italian Giuseppe Bellusci as well as agreeing a deal with Chesterfield to bring in central defender Liam Cooper.
