LUFC Leeds United Fan View v Leicester City

I made the trip to the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night to witness the Carabao Cup fourth round clash between Leicester City and Leeds United.

I give my view on the player performance following the 3-1 defeat.

Wiedwald 4
Another mixed performance. He should have claimed the ball with his hands rather than clear the ball with his legs for the equalising goal. I thought he was lucky not to give away a penalty in the second half. He did get better as the second half wore on but he should be nowhere near the first team at the moment because the fans are getting on his back and a bad start to a game at Elland Road would see him crucified.

Anita 6
A hardworking performance from Anita and it was good for him to get game time ahead of the clash with Sheffield United on Friday.

Shaughnessy 7
Another good performance for the youngster who looked solid. His only poor moment led to the second goal.

Jansson 5
Jekyll and Hyde performance. I thought he looked back to his best in the first half but he was woeful in the second half and very lucky not to gift Leicester two goals in the opening ten minutes of the second half. He was also caught on his heels for the second goal allowing Slimani to get ahead of him.

Borthwick-Jackson 5
I thought he was having a good game until an injury forced him off at half time.

Klich 5
He struggled in the Leeds midfield.

Phillips 6
He tried his hardest to get Leeds going in midfield but he often lacked options.

Hernandez 7 Star Man
A superb goal and he was always at the centre of everything Leeds did well.

Roofe 7
He worked hard and he was always a threat for Leeds, especially in the first half.

Cibicki 4
He contributed nothing to the game.

Grot 4
A laboured performance. He never bust a gut to close down and looked uninterested. He also missed a great chance to put Leeds ahead early on.

Subs

Ayling 6

He replaced Borthwick-Jackson at half time and he gave us an extra option going forward. He struggled against the pace of Gray when defending.

Sacko 5
I want to see him attacking the defenders when he comes on late in the game.

Vieira 5
Added steel in the middle of the pitch late on.

Summary
A decent performance and the game was in the balance until the final 20 minutes. I thought a few players showed that they are not good enough for first team football in the likes of Cibicki and Grot.

We started well and deservedly went ahead but then we threw the lead away with a soft goal. In the second half, we lost the impetus whenever we had an attack by slowing the game down with little movement from the forward players.

We can now concentrate on the league until January and I expect all those rested to be back in the side for the clash against Sheffield United on Friday.
