Ken Bates is the latest to consider taking legal action against West Ham in the aftermath of the Carlos Tevez affair.

West Ham and Sheffield United have apparently come to an agreement in an out of court settlement with money owed to Sheffield United because of the relegation from the Premier League in 2007 and not West Ham.

Now Neil Warnock who was the Sheffield United boss at the time is considering his own legal action has he still believes he would be a Premiership manager had they not been relegated. Players who were at Sheffield United at the time are also considering legal action has they lost out on bonus and wages that would have been worked out had they stayed in the Premier League.

Leeds had sold defender Matt Kilgallon, Ian Bennett and Rob Hulse to Sheffield United with sell on clauses that involved Sheffield United staying in the Premier League, when United were relegated Leeds missed out on these payments believed to be a six figure sum.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio Bates said ‘When they got relegated on the last day of the season we lost a substantial sum. If they are being compensated for their loss then we believe we should be compensated for our loss.’

Bates is currently taking legal advice and is not going to make further comments for the time being, Leeds could be the first of many clubs who could take action against the Hammers other than Sheffield United.
